Dear Blog,
It’s been a while since we’ve connected and I’m really sorry about that. There’s the whole “It’s not you, it’s me” generalization going on. Let’s just say that in the past few weeks I’ve been a little too lazy unmotivated to keep up. I’ve been a little, well, exhausted, to say the least. School started back up (and so did sports season) so my time is spent working, chauffeuring, and couch-potatoing catching up on the new fall TV line-up. And aside from all that, I’ve got a pregnant friend and a bride-to-be sister to cater to, so yeah, “exhaustion” has felt more like “extremely fatigued” lately. You’ve been neglected, and for that I am truly sorry.
At least I’m hoping this bout of exhaustion is only temporary! I’ve got a ton of projects to work on and I can’t wait to share them with my readers! Tonight I’m headed to the Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove show at the Allstate Arena. (If you’re in the Chicago area, don’t forget to use the PROMO Code MOM3 to save 40% on weekday tickets or 20% on weekend tickets. The Windy City Kid’s Guide will give you detailed information about the promotion.) My little guy will be two-years-old in a couple of weeks and I’ve never taken him to an arena event so I’m hoping he likes it. I’ll fill you all in on our experience soon! This weekend I’m also doing the Pretty Muddy Run in Orland Park and I am so damn nervous excited about that. (I may, however, have to sleep for a few days straight to recover though.)
I’m also looking for more places to review in the Chicagoland area so hopefully you’ll see more of those in the months to come. I had so much fun visiting the Randall Oaks Barnyard Zoo recently (and have already gone back twice!) and I loved the feedback I’ve received on the post. I’m hoping the “Thoughts from Her” can evolve to include more family-friendly venues.
I’ve also realized that the focus of Thoughts from Her is kinda veering from my original blog goals. I originally started this blog to share more about myself and the things I go through on a day-to-day basis and noticed (with the help of a friend) that the blog is focused less on me and my family and more on brand work. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE WORKING WITH BRANDS I BELIEVE IN, but I need to share more of my story in totally organic posts, rather than woven around a brand spotlight. So you’ll still see those posts because each and every one of them contain real experiences my family has, but I will share more of just “ME” too. I’m just hoping my life isn’t too boring to hold your interest. I mean, just how many stories about a messy, babbling toddler can one reader take, ya know?
Anyhow, I’m looking forward to this renewed focus I have for my writing and I’m hoping you’ll all still join me for the ride!
~Amanda

You are forgiven! Welcome back. This totally put a smile on my face today. Remember your sister will be married soon and your friend won’t be pregnant forever.
Thanks, Judy! Hmm…I wonder who helped me figure that one out?!?! LOL
I think once we get over your pregnancy and my sister’s wedding, everything will start getting back to normal. January is looking good.
