Bertolli Saved My Weekend

LOL…and that’s no joke, either.

Last night, my husband and I finally got the chance to have a much-needed date night.  We had been looking forward to it for weeks!  I even (uncharacteristically) got all dolled up – make-up, heels, the whole nine yards!

Without having to dish on the entire night, (and struggling from having to name this unfortunate restaurant) I would just say:  steak should not by dry and charred, and “lightly” seasoned is sure as heck a better descriptive term for food than “generously” seasoned (I swear it was as if I took a sip out of a salt shaker…YUCK!).

Anyhow…my husband was SOOOO disappointed!  I felt really bad for him, as I have NEVER witnessed him leave half of an uneaten steak behind at a restaurant. L  I just had to come up with a way to make it up to him.  Cue “Bertolli Saved My Weekend”.

So tonight I served up a Bertolli Meal Soup and tried to make our Sunday evening as romantic as it could be.  I set the table, used our “nice” dinner plates and served drinks for the both of us.  The kitchen was smelling REALLY good while the soup was cooking – and the taste matched the smell!  What was even better was that the soup took less than 20 minutes to go from in the bag to on the table – perfection.

Bertolli Meal Soups come in four different varieties: Chicken Minestroni, Roasted Chicken & Rotini Pasta, Tomato Florentine & Tortellini with Chicken and Tuscan-Style Beef & Vegetables.  I chose to make the Tomato Florentine – isn’t
it gorgeous?!

We ended up having a great night, all thanks to a great meal.  The disaster of the night before was completely behind us.  Thank goodness!  Here’s some tips for you to make your own weeknight meal extra special:

1.)    Set the table restaurant-style, using nice dinnerware, napkins and a centerpiece.  Fresh flowers are always a plus.

2.)   Get dressed! Showing up to the table in your flannel PJ’s is certainly less than attractive.

3.)   Try not to take pictures of your food while at the dinner table.  Not so romantic.  Just sayin’! LOL
